The Crazy Bear

Today we decided to try out the Crazy Bear Italian restaurant.
Faiiiiiiiiiiiiil.
Apparently it is only an Italian Monday to Saturday. On Sundays it transforms into an over-flow restaurant for the original Crazy Bear across the street - where the food is as British as it gets.
Bye bye up-market pizza...hellllooo Sunday roast. Can't complain really.

The Yorkshire puddings were the size of my head...

And the desserts were so pretty you didn't want to eat them!

...But of course that was never going to happen.

The House Bacon

I am no sandwich connoisseur, but I can say with absolute certainty that this was a great sandwich. Crispy bacon, avocado and tomato all held together between perfectly toasted slices of fresh bread. I guess that actually makes it a toastie but to be honest, in my eyes, there is no difference.

Unfortunately there wasn't time to take better photos because my tummy was screaming at me to eat the thing. I complied and both my taste buds and my tummy thanked me for it.

The cornflakes didn't even come close.

It is very dangerous that I walk past this place so often now that I have experienced the magic that is the HB.
Great food and a great spot for people watching (my favourite hobby)...I foresee a lot of future lunch times spent here.

Mmmmm...

Nothing brightens the day better than a raspberry and mango smoothie followed by a huuuge bowl of yoghurty goodness. Very well done Boston Tea Party.

Born in Bristol, Park Street is home to BTP's original and flagship cafe however there are 3 others dotted around the city so you should never find yourself too far away from the delights pictured above.

Healthy Monday

Warm chicken salad with tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, onions and all that good stuff - beauuuuuuutiful.

After the closure of M&S (which according to all the old ladies waiting outside was due to a mysterious alarm going off inside) we were forced to reconsider what to have as a post-gym lunch.

The answer, in fact, was right in front of us...directly in front of M&S in one of those permanent food stands which usually look more than a little bit dodgy. Selling warm baguettes, jacket potatoes, salads and other healthy fast foods, this one was far from dodgy. Freshly made in front of you, this was much better than any supermarket version. Would recommend anybody in the Cabot Circus vicinity to check out this out if you're hungry and in a hurry. Delicious!

Not so classy eating it on the side of the road while waiting for a bus but we won't dwell on that...

Jelly beans and red wine

It has taken nearly 6 months, but finally I can say that I have crossed the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The experience wasn't quite as exciting as I had always anticipated it would be, in fact, I'm not even sure I would have noticed it happening if the driver hadn't stopped to pay the 50p toll. Regardless, it is something to cross off my list of things to do in Bristol.

A rather pathetic photo of the bridge-crossing experience...

Anyway, the bridge was just the beginning. The main event of the night was the Hogan Lovells Spring Law Ball. Destination: Leigh Court (a fancy 19th century mansion).

The theme of the night was carnival - Rio de Janiero style - which was awesome. It basically meant unlimited popcorn and candy floss, and as many turns on the dodgems as you could handle...(you also had to be prepared to get a little feisty as people waiting greatly outnumbered cars). Disputes aside, the dodgems were definitely everyone's favourite part of the night.

But before any of this we were first treated to a glass of champagne, closely followed by a three course meal and plenty of wine. To top it all off we were also each given a tin of jelly beans to accompany our meal. I say accompany, but realistically they were probably meant for after the meal. Safe to say they were long gone before our main course had been cleared.

Time to hit the carnival...

All in all it was a great night and I'm already looking forward to Christmas to do it all over again.
